KF Edge Seal – Metal Vacuum Gasket

KF Aluminium Edge Seals provide a reliable, elastomer-free sealing solution for KF (ISO-KF) vacuum flange connections. Manufactured from aluminium, these metal gaskets eliminate gas permeation through elastomer seals and are particularly suitable for high-vacuum applications requiring clean, low-outgassing connections.

Unlike conventional KF centring rings with elastomer O-rings, aluminium edge seals provide a metal-to-metal sealing connection.

Material and Design

The edge seals are manufactured from aluminium (Al) and are designed for KF vacuum flange connections according to ISO 2861-1 and DIN 28403.

During installation, the aluminium sealing edge undergoes controlled plastic deformation to create a vacuum-tight connection. The gasket is intended for single use and should be replaced whenever the flange connection is opened.

Installation and Compatible Clamps

A special KF Clamp for Edge Seal is required. Standard KF clamps designed for conventional elastomer O-ring seals are not suitable for this metal sealing system.

The matching KF Clamp for Edge Seal is available separately from UHV Store. Please select the appropriate clamp according to the nominal KF flange size.

Applications

KF Aluminium Edge Seals are suitable for high-vacuum systems, research equipment, analytical instruments and vacuum processing applications where elastomer-free sealing is preferred.
