Precision leaf springs designed for secure and reproducible fixation of samples on flat sample holders (e.g. flag-style plates).

Unlike conventional clips or coil springs, these leaf springs provide a defined and controlled clamping force, minimizing mechanical stress while ensuring reliable retention — even in vertical orientations.

The springs feature a slightly optimized V-shaped geometry for improved bending characteristics and controlled elastic behavior during operation.

Ideal for single crystals, thin films, and sensitive 2D materials where stability and cleanliness are critical.

The springs are manufactured with high precision and are suitable for:

  • Sample holders
  • Heater assemblies
  • Semiconductor and thin film systems
  • Surface science applications
  • Research and laboratory setups
  • UHV and high-temperature environments

Currently available materials:

  • Molybdenum 99.97%
High stiffness and excellent dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. Well suited for UHV systems, heater assemblies, and high-temperature sample mounting applications.
  • Tantalum 99.95%
Excellent ductility and very good UHV compatibility. Particularly suitable for delicate samples requiring softer and more compliant clamping behavior.
  • Stainless Steel X10CrNi18-8 / 1.4310 (AISI 301)
Cost-effective general-purpose material with good spring properties. Suitable for non-UHV laboratory setups and standard mounting applications.

Key features:

  • Defined and reproducible clamping force
  • Gentle fixation of fragile samples
  • Suitable for vertical and horizontal mounting
  • Optimized spring geometry with slight V-characteristic
  • Stable and repeatable elastic behavior
  • Compact low-profile design
  • No adhesives required
  • UHV-compatible material options
  • Precision manufactured for scientific and semiconductor environments
  • Compatible with standard sample holders like SHFS-M1.4-SQR12-M1.4-CRS12
  • Available in 6 mm, 4.5 mm, and 3.5 mm versions (see drawing)

Applications:

  • Sample fixation
  • Thermal contact mounting
  • Electrical isolation assemblies
  • High-temperature sample stages
  • Research instrumentation
