Choosing the Right Pincer Type: (OM) vs. (OMH)

Our UHV gripping tools are available in two versions that differ in the mechanical clearance of the pincer groove:
(OM) and (OMH). Each version is optimized for specific types of motion and alignment precision.

(OM) Version – ±8° Clearance

The (OM) version features a wider groove at the pincer tip, allowing the sample plate to move more freely (±8° vertically and horizontally).
This compensates for misalignment during insertion into the receiver.

Recommended for use with wobblesticks, especially when the transfer is not restricted to a purely horizontal plane.
The added angular tolerance ensures smooth operation, even when the wobblestick is tilted (e.g., during Z-axis movement).
⚠️ Using a wobblestick with the tighter (OMH) version may prevent full insertion of the sample plate due to limited angular flexibility.

(OMH) Version – ±2° Clearance

The (OMH) version offers reduced play (±2°), resulting in a tighter grip on the sample plate and improved stability.

Recommended for dual-shaft linear/rotary feedthroughs (such as MDG40) or sample transporters, where precise and stable alignment is ensured throughout operation.
⚠️ Not suitable for wobblestick use, as the reduced clearance limits wobble range and can obstruct proper sample insertion when tilted.
