Pincer for Flag Style Sample Holder Plates, compatible with Dual-Shaft Manipulators

Depending on the selected version, the pincer increases the Y-dimension by 27 mm (Straight Wobble Stick and Straight Linear-Rotary Feedthrough), 9 mm (Orthogonal Wobble Stick), or 45 mm (Straight Sample Transporter).

Materials

• PGWMS: EN 1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel housing and pincer components.
• PGWMO & PGRMS: EN 1.4301 (AISI 304) stainless steel housing and helical shaft, EN 1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel pincer components.
• All models: CuBe2 (CW101C, 2.1247) beryllium copper wear components, Dicronite® DL-5 coated sliding and rotating components, A2/A4 stainless steel fasteners.
• PGRMS only: PEEK (natural) plain bearing.

Choosing the Right Pincer Type: (OM) vs. (OMH)

Our UHV pincers are available in two versions that differ in the clearance between the pincer groove and the sample plate. Selecting the appropriate version ensures reliable sample transfer and optimum handling for your manipulation system.

(OM) – Standard Clearance (±8°)

The (OM) version provides ±8° of angular play, allowing the sample plate to compensate for minor misalignment during insertion into the receiver.

Recommended for wobble sticks, where angular movement is inherent to the manipulation process.

Advantages

• Compensates for minor misalignment during insertion.
• Allows smooth sample transfer even when the wobble stick is tilted.
• Ideal for applications combining linear and angular motion.

Important: The additional clearance prevents the sample plate from binding during insertion when the wobble stick is not perfectly aligned.

(OMH) – Reduced Clearance (±2°)

The (OMH) version provides ±2° of angular play, resulting in improved positioning accuracy and a more stable grip on the sample plate.

Recommended for linear-rotary feedthroughs (e.g. MDG40) and sample transporters, where the sample follows a precisely guided linear path.

Advantages

• Improved positioning accuracy.
• Reduced movement of the sample plate.
• Higher stability during transport.

Important: The (OMH) version is not recommended for wobble sticks. The reduced angular clearance may prevent smooth insertion of the sample plate when the manipulator is tilted.
